settling in
Settling in period
Each child has unique ways of adapting to a new environment, interacting with unfamiliar adults and children. We value and understand their individual needs, aiming to create an environment where your child feels secure and content in your absence. To ensure a smooth transition, we encourage parents to participate in settling-in sessions until their child becomes familiar and comfortable with the surroundings and our team.
First settling in session:
An all about me session is carried out during a home visit. During the all about me we explore your child’s likes, interests and needs to help them settle into nursery.
Second settling in session:
This settle will be held with your child’s key person within their room or garden. The settle will be for 30 minutes, and you will stay with your child for this settle. This gives you time to get to know our practitioner’s a little more and your child will have time to explore the room and their new friends with the security of having you with them.
Third settling in session:
This settle will be a longer settle within the setting and will normally be 10am-2pm. We encourage you to stay for around 30 minutes. Once you child is ready, you will leave your child to continue to explore and get to know their environment with us. They will have lunch and sleep time with us too. If your child uses a comforter at home, please bring this with them, when they are ready, they can leave it at home.
Should your child need extra settling-in sessions or any additional support, we will collaborate with our families to provide the necessary assistance.
