settling in
At Scallywags we understand it can be a worrying time when your child starts nursery. Our aim at Scallywags is to make the transition as pleasant, smooth and positive as possible.
It is paramount for us to get to know your child; what they are confident in and what they like (and dislike!). During this period, we begin the most important role of building relationships with your child. We want your child to feel loved, valued and important.
We will support your child in getting to know our routines and in making new friends.
We offer 3 settles; a home visit and 2 settling in sessions within our environments. Some children may run off without a backward glance, but some may be a bit hesitant. This is completely normal!
We advise not slipping off without saying goodbye when your child is distracted. It is better to say goodbye properly - give a hug and a kiss and tell them when you’ll be back.
Lingering is rarely a good idea. Your child will have a key worker within a family group, so ask them for advice if your little one is having difficulties.
Don’t forget to check Tapestry to see photos of your child and a write up of what they have experienced during their time with us!
